Great Wall and The Summer Palace

Wow, what an amazing day! I am completely fascinated with China- in so many ways it is like being in a different world. We spent the day with Angela, our guide, who is fantastic by the way, and our new friends, Jennifer, Dustin, Dalton and Eric. We had a blast! We started at the Summer Palace- here are some pics:
Following Angela and Jennifer into the gate of the Summer Palace.

This sits on a huge man made lake around the Summer Palace.

Buddhist Temple

This little girl and her Michael Jackson get up caught my eye and I just had to get a pic!

The marble boat designed by the Empress.

Angela and a street vendor.

Lunch. And was it AMAZING! I could live here....

Kind of looks like the foliage back home right now!

The Great Wall!

Walking it!

A watch tower.

Aaron and his hat he bought from some eager sellers along the way. I've told him no more eye contact. He smiles and they reel him in....

Eric loved Aaron's hat so much that he had to get one too!

Again, Aaron was attacked by eager sellers. Yep, we had to pay for this picture.

Hey look, they have cow crossings in Beijing too! Felt just like home for a minute.

Tomorrow it is off to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden Temple and whatever else we can squeeze in along the way. Taking the subway and walking, no guide tomorrow- we are on our own!
